Jeremiah King has been studying dance since 1994. He first took a ballroom dance class at Hampden-Sydney College and a year later joined and performed (a foxtrot) with the Dance Guild at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Upon returning to Tennessee, he studied Classics and Dance at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was a member of the UT Dance Company, and has danced professionally with Circle Modern Dance, Ballet Gloria, and the Knoxville Opera Company. He has attended the ADF summer program at Duke University, and has received training in Ballroom and Latin dance through DanceSport of Knoxville and private coachings. Jeremiah holds a degree in Classics, with a concentration in Latin, from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Jeremiah began teaching at DanceSport of Knoxville in 2001.

Jeremiah’s passions are Inayan Eskrima, dance, culinary arts, agriculture, and most importantly his family. He and Brandy have one son, Elijah, who also shares their love of dance. Jeremiah’s favorite dances are Samba, ChaCha, West Coast Swing, Waltz, and Foxtrot.


Brandy King is a Registered Nurse who holds a degree in nursing from the University of Kentucky. She has been practicing nursing since 1996 and currently works on Labor and Delivery. She has a background in cheerleading and has choreographed for dance teams. In 2002, she began studying Ballroom and Latin dance and began teaching with her husband, Jeremiah, in 2004.

Brandy King enjoys dancing, reading, Thai and Mexican cuisine, Inayan Eskrima and spending time with her family. Brandy’s favorite dances are the ChaCha, Rumba, Swing and Waltz.

In 2004, Jeremiah and his wife Brandy formed Counterclockwise, a business focused on bringing the joys and benefits of Ballroom dance out of the dance studio into the Knoxville community.
